Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free version
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup you can use honey as an alternative
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • A pinch of salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • First and foremost, drain and press the tofu to remove excess liquid. This step is crucial to achieving that firm and crispy end result.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, ground turmeric, ground ginger, soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to create the marinade. This is the magical potion that will transform your tofu into a flavor bomb.
  • Slice the pressed tofu into cubes and toss them gently in the marinade. Be sure to massage the marinade into each piece, ensuring every corner gets a fair share of these divine flavors.
  • Let the tofu lounge in the marinade for at least 30 minutes. The longer it basks, the deeper and richer the flavor profile will become.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the tofu on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve your masterpiece of Turmeric Ginger Marinated Tofu atop a fluffy bed of rice or with stir-fried vegetables.

Notes

For the health-conscious readers, substitute soy sauce with tamari to make this recipe gluten-free. Also, marinating the tofu for a couple of hours before you cook it will give it a more in-depth and robust flavor. If you like a bit of heat in your food, you can add a sprinkle of chili flakes to the marinade.
